VMware EXSi - VMware EXSi (vSphere) is proprietary and owned by Oracle, and requires sign up and account creation, but can be obtained with no charge, At times it can outperform KVM, and it can even run on ARM architectures. It is one of the most popular commercial virtualization solutions today. It has both an enterprise tier, which includes support and more features, and a free tier that includes most features.
Proxmox VE - Proxmox Virtual Environment is based on Debian and is FOSS yet still has both an enterprise tier, including support, and free tier lacking support and HTTPS update repos. It runs virtual machines with KVM and containers with LXC on the host's Debian kernel rather than with docker.
XCP-ng - XCP-ng is based on the FOSS Xen hypervisor, and is very performant and stable, It has both an enterprise tier, including support, and a free tier lacking support.

Type 2 Hypervisors (Hardware > OS > Hypervisor > OS)
Oracle VirtualBox - Oracle VirtualBox is an open source hypervisor made by Innotek and eventually bought by the company, Sun, now known as Oracle.
VMware Workstation - VMware Workstation is another proprietary hypervisor from Oracle, similar to VirtualBox.
Virtual Machine Manager - Virt-Manager is one of the most versatile type 2 hypervisors that can run Xen, KVM, QEMU and also run LXC containers, and even optional support for OpenBSD's bhyve hypervisor, developed by Red Hat
