alike.
NixOS - NixOS is
an immutable FOSS operating system that has a configuration file
for the entire system which allows for easy replicability of
system configurations.
VanillaOS - VanillaOS is
a, immutable FOSS operating system, based on Ubuntu, which
containerizes applications separate from the OS, and can install
apps from different sources like apt, dnf, pacman, aur,
appimages, snap, and has subsystems for Arch, Fedora, Void,
OpenSUSE, and more.
OpenBSD
- OpenBSD is a fork of NetBSD, based on the Berkeley Software
Distribution, and is a general purpose operating system that is
focused on security.
FreeBSD - FreeBSD,
like OpenBSD is based on the Berkeley Software Distribution and

Silverblue - Fedora Silverblue is based on Fedora
Workstation, but its an immutable OS that runs installed
programs in a containerized environment separate from the
operating system for increased stability and other benefits.

EXSi - VMware EXSi (vSphere) is proprietary and owned by
Oracle, and requires sign up and account creation, but can be
obtained with no charge, At times it can outperform KVM, and it
can even run on ARM architectures. It is one of the most popular
commercial virtualization solutions today. It has both an
enterprise tier, which includes support and more features, and a
free tier that includes most features.
Proxmox VE - Proxmox
Virtual Environment is based on Debian and is FOSS yet still has
both an enterprise tier, including support, and free tier
lacking support and HTTPS update repos. It runs virtual machines
with KVM and containers with LXC on the host's Debian kernel
rather than with docker.
XCP-ng - XCP-ng is based on
the FOSS Xen hypervisor, and is very performant and stable, It
has both an enterprise tier, including support, and a free tier
lacking support.

hypervisor made by Innotek and eventually bought by the company,
